8/28/11

This weekend Curt finished up the IMCA points season by racing at Des Moines on Friday and West Liberty on Saturday.  By finishing 8th place Friday night at Des Moines Curt finished the season in 7th for points there.  Saturday Curt raced at West Liberty and despite starting the feature 4th and running there for the first 5 laps his car got tight on corner entry and made it hard to drive and he slowly dropped back to his finishing position of 10th.  We will now wait and see how Curt ended up in National and State points for IMCA.  The next planned race for Curt is at the Shelby County Speedway for the Tiny Lund Memorial race on September 16 and 17.

8/22/11

Since the last update Curt has raced 4 times.  On Friday August 12 Curt headed out to the Crawford County Speedway in Denison, IA for double IMCA points features.  In the first feature Curt would start 9th and finish in 10th on a very heavy and fast track that didn't have much passing.  Curt would finish 3rd in his heat race putting him starting 4th for the second feature.  The track stayed very heavy and fast for the second feature in which Curt would end up 6th.

On Monday August 15, Curt would race at the Iowa State Fair Deery Brothers show.  Curt would start 8th out of 9 in his heat race and finish 9th.  In the B Main Curt would start 7th and finish 8th, thus not qualifying for the feature.  It was found out the next day when doing maintenance on the car that the tow out was 1 inch more that it should have been.

On Saturday August 20, Curt headed to West Liberty Raceway for a weekly IMCA race in order to get some more IMCA National and State points.  Curt would start 7th in his heat and finish 3rd.  Curt would then start the feature in 9th and finish in 9th.

8/1/11

It was a busy week for the Schroeder Motorsports team as Curt competed in 6 races in 9 days with some decent results:

Friday July 22 at Des Moines: Curt finish 3rd in his heat putting him on the pole for the feature.  At the start of the feature Curt would be involved in a wreck and forced to restart at the back of the pack.  Curt would race his way to an 8th place finish.

Saturday July 23 at Webster City: Curt would get last in his heat which caused him to start 14th for the feature.  That's when the excitement began.  Curt would drive his car from 14th to finish in the 6th position, passing every car between 14th and 6th except for one that spun out.

Tuesday July 26 at West Union: Curt would finally get the open motor to the track without being rained out.  Curt would start 7th in his heat and finish 6th.  For the feature Curt would start 18th and finish 17th.  Not bad for the first night of open motor racing in 2011, considering Curt spent most of the night chasing what gear to put in the car.

Wednesday July 27 at Allison: Curt would start 7th in his heat and finish 6th.  He would start the feature in 14th and work his way up to 12th before his oil temperature got a little warm and he retired from the race in 17th.

Friday July 29 at Des Moines: Curt would win his heat race and start the feature on the outside front row.  At the start Curt would fall back to 3rd but find the bottom side to his liking as his car was really fast down there.  Curt would be challenging for the lead when a yellow came out.  On the restart Curt would hit a rut in turn 1 and bend his right rear lower trailing arm making his car extremely tight and hard to turn the rest of the race.  This would cause Curt to fall back and finish in the 8th position.

Saturday July 30 at Webster City: It was 2011 Season Championships and the heats didn't mean anything so Curt would make 1 lap and pull in the pits.  For the feature Curt would start in 7th because he was 7th in points.  After a very boring race with every car running the bottom of the track Curt would finish in 8th and end up in 7th for season points.

7/20/11

A bad racing weekend for the Schroeder Motorsports team is finally over.  The bad luck started Friday night at Des Moines, Curt would be running 4th in his heat race and with 2 laps to go he lost his water pump belts and had to retire from the race.  Unable to fine the correct belts Curt put one belt on and went out for the feature to complete 1 lap and get points, finishing in 16th.  Saturday night continued the bad luck, on the way to Webster City the hauler blew a tire.  Curt would have a good heat race finishing 3rd and right on the bumper of 2nd place finisher Darrell DeFrance.  Finishing 3rd in his heat would put him starting 2nd row inside of the feature, but the bad luck continued when a car would come down on him causing Curt to spin in the first corner.  Curt had to restart in 18th, but would pass 5 cars and finish 13th.

The plan was to head to Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, IA on Tuesday for their special but due to the hauler going to the shop for maintenance the Team will not be able to make it now.  This weekend the team will once again plan on racing at Des Moines and Webster City.

6/27/11

Friday night Curt raced at Des Moines, in his heat he would get 6th and miss the invert for the feature.  He would start the feature in 11th and finish in 10th.  He tried a new setup and it make the car extremely tight and he just couldn't pass the 8th and 9th place cars but was right there with them.  Saturday Curt went to Webster City, in his heat he would finish 3rd and would start the feature on the pole.  In the feature Curt would jump to an early lead and hold it until about lap 6 when he would drop back to 5th.  Curt would finish the feature in 5th.  This weekend the team will once again plan on racing at Des Moines and Webster City.

6/20/11

Friday night Curt headed to Des Moines for mid-season championships.  They would line the feature up by points so Curt would start 9th and finish in the 9th position.  On Saturday Curt would head to Webster City, in the heat Curt would start 2nd and finish 4th on a very slick track.  In the feature Curt would start 2nd, jump to the early lead and lead 5 laps, run 2nd until about lap 12, run 3rd until about lap 18 and finish the feature in the 4th spot on a rubbered up race track.  This weekend the team will once again plan on racing at Des Moines and Webster City.

5/29/11

Friday night Curt headed to Des Moines under drizzly conditions, he would run 5th in his heat putting him on the outside front row for the feature.  In the feature Curt would run second for most of the race until Todd Cooney was able to overtake him with about 7 laps to go.  Curt would finish in the 4th position.  Saturday night they headed to Webster City for double features.  In the make up feature Curt would start 2nd row inside and on the initial start he would jump to the 2nd position, but a spin out meant they would have to restart.  On the restart Curt would get into the back of a car and do damage to the front bumper causing him to pull in the pits and finish 15th.  In the heat Curt would start outside front row and run 3rd until he lost brakes and faded to finish in the 5th position.  Curt would start the feature in 16th and despite having very weak brakes he would finish in the 10th spot.

Plans have changed, due to the damage suffered at Webster City Curt will not be going to the Corn Belt races in Tipton and West Union and instead will be repairing the car for Des Moines on Friday.

5/8/11

A decent weekend for the Schroeder Motorsports team.  Curt headed to Des Moines Friday and finished 11th in the feature but more importantly they figured out the problem with the engine.  Saturday Curt went to Webster City, he would finish 6th in the heat just one spot out of the redraw.  For the feature Curt would start 12th and eventually work his way up to 8th before finishing 10th.  Once again we plan on going to Des Moines Friday and Webster City Saturday.  We have also added the Independence Corn Belt race on May 24th to our schedule and removed the Boone Deery Brothers race.

5/4/11

The racing season started on a slow note for Curt.  Friday in Des Moines he would battle first race bugs which would cause him to finish 11th in the feature.  Saturday at Webster City the bugs were still there but the team thinks they found the problem.  Unfortunately even though Curt got 4th in his heat and drew the 6th starting spot in the feature he elected to start last since the car wasn't working properly.  At the start of the race a lot of dust was kicked up and there was a crash on the front stretch that Curt ended up in.  The car only had a wrecked nose and has since been repaired.  We will be once again heading to Des Moines on Friday and Webster City on Saturday with the hopes of performing better.

2/19/11

The schedule has been posted on the Schedule page.  The plan is to follow the Dart CornBelt Clash Series with the open engine as much as we can and then race at Des Moines and Webster City with the IMCA Spec engine when there isn't a conflicting CornBelt race.  We will also hit select Deery Brother races mainly the two at Boone.

12/21/10

As the winter season is upon us the "new look" Schroeder Motorsports Team is busy getting prepared for the 2011 racing season.  Unfortunately during the Knoxville Late Model Nationals Curt blew his 380 ci Pro Power motor, so he is currently pursuing various open engine options for the 2011 season.  The reason we called it the "new look" Schroeder Motorsports Team above is because for 2011 only Curt will be racing and Chris will be back to being the crew chief.  Curt is excited for this because he feels that having Chris's racing experience in the pits, Chris can see and contribute more to chassis changes that need to be made throughout the race night.

The tentative plans for Curt are to race weekly at Des Moines and Webster City, under the IMCA sanction.  We feel that with Curt inheriting Chris's IMCA Spec Engine and the close proximity of the shop to both tracks we should take advantage of that.  Curt also, plans to run a few IMCA Deery Brothers races as well as other Open Engine Shows that come around the area (ex. WoO at Independence, Knoxville Late Model Nationals, etc.).  Curt would also like to follow as much of the Dart CornBelt Clash Series in 2011.

Check back as the 2011 schedule will be posted as soon as the schedules for the MLRA, MARS and Dart CornBelt Clash Series schedules are released.

9/22/10

Well Curt and the Schroeder Motorsports Team is all ready to head to Knoxville, IA for the Knoxville Late Model Nationals on Thursday Sept. 30 through Saturday October 2, 2010.  Its been a disappointing year from the perspective that it seems like we have had engine problems at every race.  However, every time Curt has gone out the car has performed better than it ever has.  So the Team is hoping that the car continues to drive as well and as fast as it has been and the engine problems are finally behind us and we can perform at the level we know we are capable of.

8/28/10

Thursday August 26 the Schroeder Motorsports Team headed to Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, IA for a Corn Belt Clash Series Race.  Curt would run 5th in his heat race, which would put him starting 15th for the feature.  In the Feature Curt would have a fast start, running the topside of the track Curt was able to pass 4 or 5 cars before he made a mistake and spun out.  Curt would restart 20th and work his way back to a 15th place finish.  Towards the end of the race Curt noticed his oil temp was a little hot and thought he heard the engine sounding flat.  Curt will check over the car before making a decision on if he will race at the SPI Shootouts Labor Day weekend.

7/18/10

The last week saw the Schroeder Motorsports Team hit the road to Elko, MN and Farley, IA.  Friday July 9th and Saturday July 10th Curt would race in the Dart Corn Belt Clash Series race in Elko, MN.  This was a unique event because Elko is a pavement track that they put dirt on and let us race.  Friday night the track was pretty rough and Curt would pull in during the feature in order to not break any equipment and live to race Saturday night.  However, doing maintenance on Saturday Curt found some water in his oil and made the decision to just run enough to make the feature and get paid for starting the feature so he would finish 18th on Saturday.

The water in the oil problem was fixed and on Tuesday July 13th Curt would head to Farley for the $10,000 to win Open Late Model Shootout.  Curt's bad luck would continue as during his heat race he would suffer a broken oil pump belt, ending his night.  The engine is currently at the engine shop getting checked for any damage that may have been suffered when the belt broke.  We will update the site as soon as we know when Curt will be back to the track.

7/4/10

Curt made his return to the track Thursday night at the Southern Iowa Speedway for the MARS Dirtcar Series event.  Curt would run 6th in his heat and just miss making the A Main by one spot.  Curt would then start on the outside front row for the B Main and finish in the 3rd spot qualifying him for a 19th starting spot in the A Main.  Curt would run 17th most of the A Main until a late caution when he would lose a couple spots and finish in the 19th position.  Up next for Curt and the Schroeder Motorsports Team will be a double header Friday and Saturday at the Elko Speedway in Elko, MN for the Dart Corn Belt Clash Series.

6/1/10

Not a good night a the Iowa State Fair Speedway for the Schroeder Motorsports team!  Unfortunately Chris was the casualty of a moron named Josh Most and ended up destroying his car.  Most the idiot who last year destroyed Fred Miller's new car and also got his face punched in because of his retarded driving obviously didn't learn anything.  So here's what happened. Chris is running in 5th place during the heat race with about 5 laps to go and Josh drives up under the back of Chris's car, lifts it up so the tires are off the ground and turns Chris sending him hard into the inside guardrail causing Chris to flip over and land upside down.  The front of the car was destroyed and the frame is junk, because of this Chris's season has come to an end.

The plan going forward for 2010 will be this:  When Curt gets his open motor back he will continue to race at the Dart Corn Belt Series races, other open engine specials and Curt may run a couple IMCA races with Chris's engine.

5/11/10

The Schroeder Motorsports Team headed to the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway for Chris's opening night of IMCA weekly points.  Chris would have a frustrating night, we believe a bad power valve in the carb caused a popping condition in the engine.  The team believes that they have the problem fixed and will head back to Des Moines this Friday and skip the Dart Corn Belt Series races in Cresco, IA on Thursday and Fountain City, WI on Friday due to Curt's engine still being in the shop for repairs to a cracked piston.

4/24/10

The Schroeder Motorsports Team headed to the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN last weekend and produced mixed results.  Curt would have a good handling car but would struggle to find any forward bite.  Chris would finish 5th in his heat race but due to the 4th place car being disqualified Chris moved up to 4th and qualified for the main event.  Curt would not pass enough car in the B main to qualify and his night came to an end.  Chris would be involved in a first lap crash during the feature with an overzealous driver and his night would come to an end with a 21st place finish.

Friday April 23, 2010 Chris had planned on racing at the Iowa State Fairgrounds for the first night of IMCA Late Model points but that event would be rained out

Up next for the team will see Chris heading to the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway on 4/30/10 and Curt heading to West Liberty on 5/1/10 for the SPI Shootout.

1/9/10

The Schroeder Motorsports Team is anxiously getting ready for the 2010 racing season.  A tentative schedule has been uploaded to the schedule page.  Due to SPI changing their Late Model rules from Open Engine rules to IMCA rules the team has decided to only run selected events at SPI tracks in 2010.  The plan as of now is for Chris to run weekly at Des Moines, try to run the whole Dart Corn Belt Clash Series, and selected IMCA Deery Brothers events.  The plan for Curt in 2010 is for him to try to run the entire Dart Corn Belt Clash Series, SPI Open Late Model Shootout, and other open engine specials that come around the area.

Chris has made some updates to his GRT and is currently having his IMCA engine freshened for the 2010 season.  Curt has sold his Ford Open Engine and is in the process of purchasing a all aluminum open engine for the 2010 season.

Check back as the season gets closer for more updates.

10/11/09

Well the racing season has ended for the Schroeder Motorsports Team and it was a season with mixed results.  The last race of the season was the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, IA.  After 2 straight days of rain, Saturday cleared off and it looked like the races would be a go for Saturday night, but a hard shower after hotlaps would once again cancel the show and postpone it until Sunday.  Sunday saw a very slick track, Curt and Chris would time trial in the 2nd half of the cars and start there heats towards the back.  Not much passing was done in the heats and Curt and Chris would both have to run the C Main.  Chris would start 7th and Curt would start 11th.  Chris would run good until a flat tire sent him pit side, Curt would finish 8th with Chris finishing 10th.

9/25/09

Well lets just say we want to forget about the 2009 Yankee Dirt Track Classic.  Curt was very optimistic about his chances to qualify to the 100 lapper despite there being 50 other Late Models in attendance.  Curt would real off a pretty good first lap for his time trial run, but that's where the fun would end.  On his second lap his right front lower control arm would dig into the track causing it to break and send him straight towards the wall, fortunately he got stopped in time and did not make contact with the wall.  However, Chris and Curt would skip the heat race in order to fix the car (had to replace the radiator, lower control arm and upper control arm).  Curt would then start the B Main about 14th and run a very safe race (because the front end alignment was not set) and work his way up to 7th.  Saturday would see Curt start 7th in the Last Chance race and with a car that he believed was good, Curt would be working on the 4th place car of Eric Gustaf when a repeat of Friday night would happen.  Curt decided to fix the car and start at the tail of the Non-Qualifiers feature in order to get the starting money.

Up next is the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals at the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA.  As of this posting the cars are already prepped, loaded and the team is ready to head to their favorite event of the year.

Also, we still have some T-shirts available and would like to leave Knoxville with none left.  Clearance prices are $10 for one or 2 for $15.

9/1/09

Last weekend saw The Schroeder Motorsports Team head to West liberty for an Open Motor special.  Chris would start 15th in the feature in his first race back since breaking his collarbone.  Chris would run a good race for his first race back and even for being out motored big time and finish in the 14th position.  Curt would start 17th and run a good race working his way up to a 10th place finish.  This weekend both Curt and Chris will head to West Liberty for season championships.

8/27/09

We'll its been a while since I updated the site, but then it seems like forever since we raced.  The last race for the Schroeder Motorsports Team was Curt racing the season finale of the Dart Corn Belt Series at West Union on Aug. 16, since then he has taken a break do to the following 1) his 390 carburetor is not up to par so he figured there's no point in racing with the piece of junk and 2) since Chris is hurt it really doesn't pay to travel over to West Liberty on a weekly basis.  However, this week Curt plans to make it back over to West Liberty for the Open Shootout Special.  Chris may also race this event depending how he feels.  The schedule for the rest of the season has been updated on the schedule page.

As for prior results both Curt and Chris raced at West Liberty on Saturday August 8 with Curt finishing 13th and Chris finishing 17th.  As noted above Curt also raced in a Dart Corn Belt Series race at West Union on August 16.  Curt had a really good car as he started 19th and was up to 11th before he was spun out when he had to check up for an accident ahead.  This put him to the back and with only about 6 laps to go there wasn't much time to climb back up so he finished 16th.

7/29/09

While Chris is healing his broken collar bone Curt took off and went to race at West Liberty on Saturday and West Union on Tuesday for a Dart Corn Belt Series race.

Saturday would see Curt finish the feature in 7th on a very slick track, the car was good for the most part.  Tuesday would see Curt start the feature in 16 and finish in 12th, the car was very good but needed just one more adjustment to make it really good.  This week there is no racing at West Liberty and the Team will take the weekend off before heading back to West Liberty on August 8.

7/23/09

Thursday night saw Curt and Chris go to Independence for the 3rd of 5 Dart Corn Belt Series races.  The heats would be ugly for both cars, but come feature time the cars seemed to be alot better.  Chris would run in the top 15 until late race contact with another car would cut his tire and end his night and give him a 20th place finish.  Curt would shake off an early race spin and work his way up to a 13th place, but an officiating error would put him officially in 15th.

Friday night Chris would go to Des Moines and run good until once again he lost power steering and ended up with a 13th place finish.

Both would go to West Liberty on Saturday night and it would prove to be an adventure.  Curt's car was garbage all night and finished in a disappointing 13th place.  Chris would once again lose power steering in the heat.  Chris would then participate and win a Gunny Sack race put on by the Lil Racers Club, unfortunately in doing so he took a nasty fall and broke his collar bone.  Chris will be sidelined for a while and hopes to make it back by the Lucas Oil Knoxville Nationals.

With Chris's unfortunate accident, Curt has decided to keep racing at West Liberty with the outside chance at cracking the top 10 in points and will also finish out the Dart Corn Belt Series with the goal of a top 10 in points there too.

7/15/09

Its been a pretty busy last week for the Schroeder Motorsports Team.  First Chris competed in the IMCA Deery Brothers race at the Knoxville Speedway on Wednesday, unfortunately power steering problems continued and Chris would not qualify for the main event.  On Friday Chris would race at the Iowa State Fair Speedway and finish in 13th.  On Saturday both Curt and Chris would head to the West Liberty Speedway, Curt would finish the A Main in 8th and Chris in 10th.  On Monday both would head to the Mineral City Speedway for the WDRL race.  On a very fast track Chris would once again have power steering problems in his heat race.  Curt would start on the pole of the B main and lead most of it until falling back to finish 3rd.  Chris was run into by another driver in the B Main wrecking his left front suspension and ending his night.  Curt would start the A Main in 21st and would run a good race, about half way his water temperature got hot and he would pull out of the race and finish in the 21st position.

This week will see the Team heading to Independence on Thursday for a Dart Corn Belt Clash Series race, Chris racing in Des Moines on Friday and both heading to West Liberty on Saturday for the Muscatine County Fair race.

7/7/09

On Thursday July 2, the Schroeder Motorsports Team headed north to Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, IA for the 2nd of 5 Dart Corn Belt Clash Series races.  Curt would start the feature 18th and Chris would start 21st.  Curt would move as high as 11th before making contact with a car he was trying to pass and spinning out.  Curt would then restart and finish 15th.  Chris would run a good steady race until he was forced to pull out of the race do to another lost power steering belt.  Friday in Des Moines and Saturday in West Liberty were once again rained out.

This week Chris will race the Deery Brothers race at Knoxville on Wednesday and then head to Des Moines on Friday, West Liberty on Saturday and Ft Dodge on Monday.  Curt will be racing at West Liberty on Saturday and Ft. Dodge on Monday.

6/30/09

Saturday June 20 saw the Schroeder Motorsports Team head to the West Liberty Speedway for NASCAR weekly racing series action.  Unfortunately it would be a quick night for both Curt and Chris.  Curt would get caught up in a first lap crash involving Nick Marolf, Jeremiah Hurst, Hal Russell and Dakota Hayden.  Jeremiah Hurst's car would end up flipping and landing on Curt's causing substantial damage.  Chris would pull in about 10 laps into the race and it would be found that he had a broken valve spring retainer.

This week will see Curt competing in the Dart Corn Belt Clash Series at the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, IA on Thursday, it is yet to be determined if Chris will also race there.  But Chris should be back in action at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Friday and then both plan to head to West Liberty for weekly racing action on Saturday night.

6/16/09

The Schroeder Motorsports Team headed east to the West Liberty Speedway on Saturday June 13, 2009 for a NASCAR weekly racing series event.  After not racing for 2 weeks both Chris and Curt were eager to get back on the track.  The track would be a heavy and fast track all night.  Curt would start 15th in the main event and finish in the 11th spot.  Chris would start 19th and retire after 9 laps due to losing a power steering belt.

This week Chris will head to Des Moines on Friday where they will try to get a race in after not having one for two weeks.  Then both Chris and Curt will head to West Liberty on Saturday and Dubuque on Sunday.

6/9/09

Once again West Liberty was rained out so we will try it again this week.  The plan is for Chris to race at Des Moines on Friday and then both Curt and Chris to race at West Liberty on Saturday night.

5/27/09

A busy weekend was on tap for the Schroeder Motorsports Team but once again rain foiled their plans.  Friday night Chris took his 3c to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines for a weekly IMCA show.  Chris would start on the pole and jump out to a quick lead until he spun out, he would then restart last but work his way up to 4th.  In the feature Chris would pass some cars and make his way up to a 10th place finish.

On Saturday the Team would head to West Liberty only to see a shower go through the area and postpone the events until Monday night.  The Team would continue on their trek to eastern Iowa and head to the Dubuque Speedway on Sunday night.  26 Late Models were on hand for the race, Chris would start 8th in his heat and finish in the 7th spot. Curt meanwhile would start 7th in his heat and finish 6th.  For the B main Curt would start on the pole and Chris would start 5th, Curt would jump out to the early lead before Ace Ihm and Darren Mish would slip by, Curt would finish 3rd and Chris would finish 5th.  In the A Main Curt would start 17th and Chris would start 21st, they would both run a good race on a very slick track.  Chris would get collected in a wreck towards the end of the race and finish in 21st, Curt would wind up with a 14th place finish.

This weekend the Schroeder Motorsports Team will not be racing, but will head to Farley and West Liberty on June 5 and 6, respectively.

5/18/09

Once again Friday nights show at Des Moines was cancelled due to rain, so on Saturday the Schroeder Motorsports Team headed east to West Liberty for a regular weekly NASCAR show.  Heat race action would see Curt starting on the inside of row 1 and Chris on the outside of row 1.  Chris would get the jump and lead until Denny Eckrich would overtake him in turn 4.  Chris would continue to run in 2nd until a power steering belt would break and he would retire to the pits.  Curt would battle an extremely tight handling racecar to a 5th place heat finish.  The feature would see Curt start 15th and Chris start 17th.  Both would drive a good race (Chris raced the entire feature with no power steering) and come home in 9th and 10th respectively on a very slick and rough race track.

For the upcoming weekend the plans have changed.  We intended to run the WoO shows in Osborn, MO and Burlington, IA on Friday and Saturday and then the MLRA race in Greenwood, NE on Sunday, but due to the WoO implementing a tire rule for the Friday and Saturday shows it was decided to have Chris run Des Moines Friday, have both race at West Liberty and Dubuque on Saturday and Sunday respectively, and then Chris may run the Deery Brothers show at Boone on Monday.

5/14/09

Well Friday May 8 started out wet for the Schroeder Motorsports Team as Chris's race Friday at Des Moines would be rained out.  The Team would then venture to West Liberty Speedway on Saturday and race in double features.  Since neither Curt or Chris was there on May 2 when they got rained out they were able to start at the back of the make-up feature,  Curt would run a decent race and gain some spots until Ron Klein would make contact with Curt causing Curt to spin out.  Curt would work his way back up to a 16th place finish.  Chris would run a good steady race and even passes Curt at one point in the feature, but Chris would settle for a 17th place finish.  In the second feature Chris would have his car working good on a very slick track, Chris would finish 18th.  Curt on the other hand had some mechanical trouble, the rear suspension was binding up and would cause Curt to pull out of the race with a 22nd place finish.

This week Chris will head to Des Moines on Friday night for a regular night IMCA show.  Both Curt and Chris will then head to West Liberty on Saturday night for a regular NASCAR show.

5/3/09

Its been a very odd couple weeks of racing for the Schroeder Motorsports Team.  On Friday April 24 the team headed to the Iowa State Fair Speedway in Des Moines, IA so Chris could compete in a weekly IMCA Late Model event, heat races would be run but rains would come before the feature was run.  Then on Saturday April 25, the Team headed out to Adrian, MO for MLRA series race #2, unfortunately two blown trailer tires about 30 minutes north of Kansas City would cause the Team to go back home and miss the race.  Next up would be the Iowa State Fair Speedway on May 1 for a regular night of IMCA racing and a makeup feature from the week before.  In the make-up feature Chris would run well, but then about  laps in he would see some smoke from the engine compartment and retire from the race.  It was later determined that the smoke was from a leaky valve cover gasket and nothing serious.  Chris would start 14th in the 2nd feature but the car would suddenly loose power and just shut off retiring him to a 19th place finish.  The Team believes the problem is a faulty ignition switch, but the investigation continues.

Up next for the Schroeder Motorsports Team will be a weekly IMCA show on Friday night for Chris and then Saturday both Curt and Chris will head to West Liberty on Saturday to compete in double features.

4/18/09

The Schroeder Motorsports Team headed to the opening MLRA race at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO last weekend, 50 Late Models were on hand for the event.  Curt drew bad and had to start inside the 4th row of Qualifier #5 and wouldn't pass enough cars to earn enough passing points to advance to the Main Event.  Curt would then start towards the back of the B Main and fail to get up to 4th which would have allowed him to transfer to the A Main.  For the first time to Lucas Oil Speedway and the first full night out with the new car we learned some things and made changes so hopefully it will be faster next time out.

The plan for the upcoming week is for Chris to race at Des Moines for the opening night of the IMCA weekly series on Friday night and then have both cars head to Adrian, MO on Saturday for MLRA race #2.

4/10/09

The Schroeder Motorsports Team will head to the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO to kick off Curt's bid for MLRA Rookie of the Year in 2009.  Last weeks opening race at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE was rained out, so this will be the opening weekend for the MLRA series.  Only Curt will be racing this weekend because Chris is still waiting on his engine (should be done and ready for him to pick up by the end of the weekend).  For more information on the MLRA series visit www.mlraracing.com.

2/20/09

The Schroeder Motorsports Team has been in high gear over the winter months getting ready for the 2009 race season.  Curt has been assembling his new Mastersbilt racecar and Chris is currently having a new IMCA Spec engine built.  As of now the plan is for Curt to run mainly MLRA and other traveling series' as they come to the area and Chris will also be running the MLRA series as well as some Deery Brothers series races and some weekly shows at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway.   A tentative schedule has been posted on the Schedule page and more updates will be coming in the next few weeks.

9/29/08

The Schroeder Motorsports Team just wrapped up a wild weekend at the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.

Thursday:  On a wicked fast race track Curt would have a great handling car in hot laps and time fairly decent in time trials.  Chris also had a good car but unfortunately missed the 60 car invert and had to start at the tail of heat 2.  Curt would start on the pole of heat 1 and that's as far as he would get this weekend.  Just before the drop of the green flag the 2nd row inside car would jump the start causing Curt to go up the track and get tagged by another car sending him sideways and then flipping down the front stretch.  The wreck destroyed the car, but Curt walked away unharmed.  As of today a new car has been found for next year.  Chris would also have some bad luck on Thursday night, Chris would hit the front stretch wall after having Brian Birkhofer blow a engine in front of him and laying a smoke screen.

Friday:  Chris would time well enough to make the 60 car invert, but he would elect to start at the tail of the heat race.  Chris would then qualify for the B Main out of his heat race.  After a couple laps in the B Main Chris would pull in and save the car for Saturday night.

Saturday:  Chris would run the C Main and end up 9th after pulling out due to the engine getting warm.

Sorry for the delay in updates but work has kept me pretty busy recently.  The Schroeder Motorsports Team last raced on Friday 8/8/08 in Farley, IA and it was not a very good night for the Team.  Both cars would run well in the heat with Curt even able to lead a lap and run in the top 4 most of the race.  However, come feature time it was a different sorry.  Chris would have an engine break, thus ending his night, it appears that a valve stuck open and the piston hit it.  Chris was able to shut the car off quickly and because of that he was able to save a lot of the engine parts from damage.  Curt would have a good top 10 run until a rock put a hole in his radiator ending his night.

Due to the engine issue Chris encountered the team has taken some weeks off and is preparing both cars for the Knoxville Late Model Nationals.  The Team worked a deal with fellow Late Model driver Todd Johnson for Chris to use his engine for the Knoxville race and in return Todd will be driving the car at the Tiny Lund Memorial race in Harlan.

8/3/08

The Schroeder Motorsports Team just wrapped up a 2 day racing weekend at the Farley Speedway and the West Liberty Speedway.  Mixed results were had for the Team.  Friday night would start out promising for Curt as his car performed well in the heat race but at the start of the feature he would break a rear end ending his night and giving him a 18th place finish.  Chris would complain of a very tight racecar in the heat race, but it would get better in the feature giving him a 14th place finish.  Saturday would see Curt still suffering the effects of a broken rear end but with the advice of a competing team Curt would put in a new axle and waalaa the rear end worked for the night.  Curt would start 16th and end up 12th, which he was happy with considering the rear end situation.  Chris's car would start the night on the loose side and would still be a little loose in the feature but Chris would have a decent run coming home 15th.

The previous week saw Chris compete at the Iowa State Fairgrounds for the Late Model season championships.  Only a feature was run and Chris would have a very good run finishing in the 6th position.

Tentative plans for the coming week are to compete at Farley on Friday, West Liberty on Saturday and then Chris will race at the Iowa State Fair Deery Brothers Summer Series race on Monday August 11.  The following weekend the Team will be taking off due to Curt's work schedule.

7/15/08

Well the last couple weeks Chris has been running the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines since Farley has taken a couple weeks off.  The Team also traveled to the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN for the WoO Gopher 50.  It would turn out to be a not so good night for both Curt and Chris.  After hot laps Curt was extremely happy with his #15 Mastersbilt, but during time trials Curt would break a 6th coil which about caused him to spin out thus giving him a bad qualifying time.  Chris would start the first heat and jump the cushion and hitting the wall ending his night with some torn up right front suspension parts.  Curt would start last in the B Main and run a decent race, his feeling was if he would have went to the bottom of the track sooner he would have done a little better.

Next up for the Schroeder Motorsports Team will be the Muscatine County Fair in West Liberty, IA on Wednesday July 16.

6/28/08

Its been a tough go at it the last couple weeks for the Schroeder Motorsports Team.  A couple weeks ago Curt traveled to Corning, IA for the MLRA sanctioned event.  42 Late Models signed in, in hot laps Curt would report that the car felt great and after a promising start to the heat race he spun out and backed into a dirt pile wrecking the rear bumper and smashing up the fuel cell.  They would fix the car and start at the tail of the B Main just to do some testing.

The following week was the debut of Chris's new engine but fuel pressure problems would cause his weekend to be sub-par.  Curt would finish 12th at Farley, which wasn't bad considering he was spun out early in the race by an overzealous driver.  The next night at West Liberty Chris would again have fuel pressure problems and Curt would make very hard contact with the turn 3 wall in his heat race that would cause substantial damage.  Curt decided he is going to take a couple weeks off to regroup and get the car back in order.  So during Curt's weeks off Chris will be competing at Des Moines, IA on Friday nights with the IMCA Late Models.

Friday June 27 Chris headed to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA.  Chris would start at the tail of the heat and take it easy until he knew the fuel pressure was going to be ok.  Then after the heat races the rains came, so next week Chris will be running double features at Des Moines, IA.

6/10/08

The Schroeder Motorsports Team just finished a semi-hectic racing weekend that included stops in Farley, IA, Freeport, IL and West Liberty, IA.  Friday night Curt would finish in the 11th position after a late race left rear flat tire would force him to restart at the rear with 5 laps to go on the new Farley 3/8th's mile track.  On Saturday the Team would head to Freeport, IL with hopes of racing at a new track and running double features but late afternoon rains would cause the show to be cancelled.  The Team then made the decision to head to West Liberty to try to get some racing in and was able to make it there for the feature.  Because Curt missed the qualifying races he would have to start last in the feature, Curt would wind up 17th driving a very loose racecar.

This week the Team is geared up and headed for Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS on Friday for an MLRA show and then to Corning, IA and the Adams County Speedway on Saturday for another MLRA show.

The Team hopes to have Chris's new engine for this weekends races.

6/4/08

A disappointing weekend for the Schroeder Motorsports Team as Curt would crash and fail to qualify for the A-Main at West Liberty on Saturday.  Curt would be running in the 6th an final transfer spot with one lap to go but a bobble in turn two would allow Bruce Hanford to get a nose along side him and in an effort to get to the low side in turn 3 & 4 Curt would pinch him and contact was made, sending Curt spinning and backing the car into the wall.  The incident would break an axle tube, tie rod, wheel and tire and do considerable body damage.

Curt and Chris have since gotten the car back together and ready to head to Farley on Friday night.

5/25/08

Due to maintenance being performed on the hauler brake system the Schroeder Motorsports Team will most likely not be in action again until the first week of June.  In other news, Chris's new engine should be completed this week or early next week.  So the next time the Schroeder Motorsports Team is in action they should be back at full strength.

5/18/08

Sorry for the lack of updates my laptop broke and I lost all my files.

Chris found out his engine was blown, but we currently are having a new one built for him and we are hoping to have it for this coming weekend.

Unfortunately the hauler had to go in to have maintenance done on the brakes which caused Curt to miss double features Saturday in West Liberty.

SPI has announced that Late Models will now be running on the new 3/8ths mile track at Farley, the Team will try it out this week and decide if they want to continue running on the small track or go race somewhere with a 1/2 mile on Fridays.

4/21/08

The race season finally kicked off for the Schroeder Motorsports Team as they made the trek over to the West Liberty Speedway for Spring Championships.  The night started out pretty good with Curt very happy after hotlaps with his new Mastersbilt racecar with shocks by Premier Racing Suspension and Chris feeling good about the way his GRT racecar handled.  Chris would start on the pole of heat 1 and ran in the top 6 until he spun out.  The spin out knocked the radiator into the fan causing what we believe to be a blown head gasket and thus ending his night.  His engine will be taken to Wyman Motorsports this coming weekend to be repaired.  Curt would start his heat race in 3rd and wind up with a 5th place finish.  Curt would then start the feature in 9th position on a very fast and rough race track.  After running around 10th for the first half of the 25 lap feature Curt would pull into the pits because he didn't think staying out there and risking torn up equipment was worth gaining a couple more dollars.

Since Chris' car is out of commission for a couple weeks the Schroeder Motorsports Team will not be heading to Farley this Friday night and plans are still up in the air as to whether Curt will take his car to West Liberty or if he will just wait for Chris to get his engine back.

4/9/08

Well the Schroeder Motorsports Team is geared up and ready to start the race season, unfortunately the weather doesn't look like it is going to cooperate.  The plan right now is to head down to Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City on Friday night and then over to Mayetta, KS on Saturday night.  Both of these races are sanctioned by MLRA.  The backup plan has the Team heading to Davenport for a WDRL race on Friday and West Liberty for Spring Championships on Saturday.

Both Curt and Chris participated in a practice day at The Iowa State Fairgrounds a couple weeks ago and both cars worked pretty well so excitement is high for the season.

Finally we want to thank all of our advertisers who have joined us for the 2008 race season, there support is very much appreciated and we will strive to promote your business the best that we can.

1/10/08

Preparation and changes have been the story of the off-season for the Schroeder Motorsports Team.  The changes to the race program are numerous for the 2008 season, the following is a list of changes being made:

1. Curt has purchased a Mastersbilt racecar to drive for the 2008 season.

2. The color of the racecars has been change for the 2008 season and both Chris and Curt's car will be identical with the different being only the numbers.

3. Chris will not be running weekly IMCA shows and there will be no USRA Late Model series for the Team to follow in 2008.  Instead the plan is to run Farley/West Liberty weekly, hit Dubuque every once and a while and run more of the WDRL, INDEE Open, WoO, and Lucas Oil Late Model shows in the area.

A tentative schedule has been posted, but we anticipate adding more dates as more schedule come out (WDRL and INDEE Opens).

Also, photos of the cars will be added shortly to the Photos page.

Preparation has also been very good for the upcoming season.  Chris's car was torn down, checked and reassembled before Thanksgiving.  Curt then picked up his new car and it was assembled before New Years.  The cars are now just waiting to get the engine back from freshening and then we will be ready to go.  Both Chris and Curt have been busy learning more about their cars.  Chris has been talking with Bob Harris to learn about his shock package and at the same time Curt has been talking with John Schulte to try to learn more about the Ohlin shocks he uses.  Also, in a effort to learn more about the new Mastersbilt chassis Curt took a trip out to the Mastersbilt shop the week of Thanksgiving and will be heading out there again for their Seminar.

You may have also noticed that the website is under going some changes.  I hope to have it complete by February.  We are in the process of designing a logo that will be displayed on the opening page and will be used on T-shirts for the upcoming year.  Keep checking back as we continue to post updates and feel free to email any suggestions to isufbcurt@yahoo.com.
